2026 NextGen Fringer Application

The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival is searching for youth to be our 2026 NextGen Fringers!

Who should apply: Anyone aged 16-23 who would like to explore the Fringe Festival and tell others about it! No theatre experience needed, just desire to do something fun this summer and help promote the Fringe experience.

What we need from you: Help us share Fringe with the rest of Winnipeg! You’ll do this in-person by anonymously contributing to our Post-It Note wall at Royal MTC, and online by sending out good vibes on your social media accounts, and/or contributing to the Patron Review site.
At one point during the festival, you’ll submit your Fringe Faves – the best things you’ve experienced so far that others should hear about.
We will share some of your thoughts and posts with our followers.

What you get from us: You’ll get a VIP pass for 6 show admissions – see 6 by yourself, or bring a friend or family member to up to 3 performances - and free Fringe program! We’ll have an orientation pizza party, an optional group outing to a show, and a gathering during the festival for a Fringe treat. Meet other young theatregoers and connect with new people! And you’ll have the opportunity to win other prizes.

When and where: The Fringe runs July 15-26, and we’ll have an orientation session on July 6. There are venues throughout the city, but most of the action is around Old Market Square in the Exchange District. NextGen Fringer home base is the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, 174 Market Ave.

Why: We’d like more young people involved in the Fringe, so we hope you’ll come out to shows and spread the word! Your opinions matter, and we want you to share what impacts you most.

The application deadline is June 28, 2026. Applicants can expect a response by July 2.

Please tell us if you already know that you have an immovable conflict on this date so we know roughly how many people to expect!

Do you agree to the following?

1. To attend a meet & greet (with free pizza!) at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (174 Market Ave.) July 6. 

2. To pick up your VIP 6 pass in person during the first half of the Fringe at Royal MTC, and use it to attend at least three performances between July 15-26. 
NOTE: The Fringe Festival includes shows that may not be suitable for all viewers. Parents/guardians should be aware that participants will be responsible for choosing appropriate shows to attend. There are descriptions and content warnings in the Fringe program guide and on our website, but they are provided by the individual companies and subject to interpretation.

3. To post a minimum of four times total through the festival on any social accounts tagging @WinnipegFringe and using #WpgFringe #NextGenFringers and/or to post patron reviews in lieu of social media
If you have a private account, please still share to your followers, but you may send us images and posts by DM.

4. To potentially have your social media accounts and posts (including any pictures) shared publicly by the Winnipeg Fringe Festival or RoyalMTC. If you have a private account, you may send us images and posts by DM.

5. To fill out your "Fringe Faves" on one day during the festival that you sign up for.

6. To answer another survey, including writing a paragraph about your experience that we can use to help promote the festival and the NextGen Fringer program for 2027.
