About the ORPA Outstanding New Professional Award

The Outstanding New Professional Award recognizes a park and recreation professional with a minimum of 3 years and less than 15 years of experience in the field and who possesses the qualities and skills of an emerging leader. The nominee demonstrates outstanding leadership, initiative, innovation, and contribution to the park and recreation profession in Oregon. Within his/her career, the nominee has shown steady career advancement, a commitment to ongoing professional development, recognition and respect from coworkers and colleagues as an emerging leader, and engagement with community and/or professional organizations. Active involvement in ORPA is preferred.

To nominate an individual for the ORPA New Professional Award, please answer the following questions and provide any required information as instructed. Contact the Awards Committee at director@orpa.org with any questions about the nomination process.

Nominations are due Friday, August 2, 2019 by 5:00 PM.

ORPA Awards will be presented at the 2019 ORPA Conference Awards Luncheon in Portland, Oregon on October 16th. Winners are strongly encouraged to be present to receive their award. If your nominee is selected to receive the award, you will be expected to provide a two- to three-minute video that highlights the winner's contributions. If production of a video is not possible, a 2-3 minute slide presentation with accompanying script may suffice. Videos are not required as part of the nomination process. The video or slide presentation for the winning recipient will be due on Monday, September 30, 2019.
