A New Community Space for Lanark (Creativity, Community, Care) - A Community Survey

There is a vacant site on Castlegate in Lanark which was a supermarket and is now owned privately. It is a substantial building with significant potential to benefit the people of Lanark. That owner has expressed an interest in selling the asset to the community and a partnership of Clydesdale Community Initiative and Lanark CAB are working up ideas for the site. The vision is for the CAB to be based there, offering services in and from the town centre. This could also include a Performing Arts Centre, the CCI shop and additional lettable offices. These are early ideas and need to be tested and there may be others.

Not only will this benefit local people, but it is a regeneration initiative, aiming to bring visitors and wealth into Lanark and boost the local economy.

We will only do this if the community is behind it, if it will make a difference, be financially viable and not duplicate other activity in the area. To ensure that this is the case, we want to ask your views. Please take a few minutes to fill in this short survey. This research is being delivered independently by Community Enterprise, an organisation with experience of community based research.

All information gathered will be treated in the strictest confidence. Paper copies can be requested by calling 01506 8622267 and leaving a message with your name and address.
