Introduction
In 2012, linked areas of chalk downland within the South Downs National Park were designated a Nature Improvement Area (NIA) by Defra, which attracted additional funding.
A part of the project involves monitoring levels of awareness both of chalk downland itself, and of the NIA project as it progresses.
