Dunkeld Artisan Village - Needs and Aspirations

Dunkeld, Birnam and District Community Development Trust is seeking to develop an Artisan Village in Dunkeld, with five workshops for local makers and creatives, as well as a community workshop space. Our vision for this space is to make creative businesses Visible, Viable and Valuable in Dunkeld & Birnam.
The proposed site is derelict garages and unloved land near the North Street Car Park in Dunkeld. Community Asset Transfer is a way for communities to acquire and develop council-owned land like this.

Community Enterprise has been commissioned to develop the business plan for the Dunkeld Artisan Village.

We want to hear from local creatives - what do you think of the proposals, would you be interested in using the space, and what would your priorities for it be.

Any questions, please email margot@communityenterprise.co.uk. See Community Enterprise's privacy notice, and SurveyMonkey's privacy notice.
This photograph shows the land as it is currently, with derelict garages.
Here you can see a draft proposal for the Artisan Village - designed to sit within its surroundings, not overlooking neighbours but blending seamlessly with the woodlands. This sympathetically designed building breathes new life into an unloved space.
1.In principle, do you support a Community Asset Transfer of the North Car Park site?
2.Do you support the proposed Artisan Village, creating workshop space for local artists and craft workers?
3.Would you be interested in renting a workshop at Dunkeld Artisan Village?
4.What arts and craft facilities would you use if they were part of the Dunkeld Artisan Village? Select all that apply.
The following image shows some example interiors from other workshops. These are provided to give a feel for what the proposed workshops may be like inside.
5.What features do you think are necessary for the effective operation of the studios? Note that this question does not apply to the community workshop space. Select all that apply.
6.If interested in renting a studio, what size would you be interested in?
7.If interested in renting a studio, how much would you be willing and able to pay?
8.If interested in renting a studio, would a rolling tenancy with a two month notice period be suitable?
9.Would you be interested in renting the community workshop space at Dunkeld Artisan Village? Perhaps to host your own classes, or simply to have occasional access to a larger space.
10.What are the potential benefits of the Artisan Village? Select all that apply.
11.Do you live and / or work in Dunkeld or the surrounding area?

The development trust defines this as including the whole PH8 postcode, plus PH9 0NN/NP/NR/NS/NT/NU/NW/NX/NY. You are still invited to complete this survey if you do not live or work within this region.
12.Are you aware of any other rural workshops for creatives? These could be local so we make sure we're not competing directly, or further afield for inspiration.
13.Please share any additional thoughts or suggestions regarding the Artisan Village.
14.This survey can be anonymous but it would be useful to engage with interested people. Please note your permissions below and add your contact details if you wish.
