2019 will mark 50 years since our graduation from EHS - Five decades!!
 
The Reunion Planning Committee sincerely hopes that many of our classmates and friends look forward to Grand Gala to celebrate our 50th EHS Class of 1969 Reunion! In this regard, the committee has met on several occassions to plan and propose such an event.
 
Tentatively, we [the committee] have set aside the date of Saturday, May 18th, 2019 for our 50th Grand Gala Event. Although we have not firmed up the venue, our most recent efforts have focused on holding the event at the Hilton in Altamonte Springs after venue price comparisons with Dubstread and the need for lodging to be on-site. A "turn-key" venue made the most sense for the convenience and safety of all attendees.
 
The preliminary budget has been predicated on a total of 150 attendees at the 50th Reunion Gala Event for the numbers, expenses and revenues to work best. This boils down to [at minimum] 75 classmates [along with their spouse or 1 guest] showing a committment to attend. If we do not get the interest and committment from the minimum needed, the planning committee will discontinue the Grand Gala event planning.
 
The Gala event costs are estimated at a price range from $100 to $125 per person dependent upon venue enhancements in consideration of this being our special  50th High School Reunion celebration. Some of these enhancements are: Butler-served appetitizers, plated salad, full 2 entree buffet with starch and vegetables, a carving station, live music [DJ or Band], 2 private cash bars in the gala room, a themed photo booth, and a professional photographer [memory book] on-site. 
 
Online ticket sales would be administered through EventBrite and would be spread over this year and next year. Example: PP price of $125 x 2 = $250 with 50% paid this year [Ticket 1 @ $125 May 2018] and 50% next year [Ticket 2 @ $125 March 2019]. The first payment would serve as our CLASS SEED MONEY to secure the necessary contracts for the May 18th, 2019 venue and other services. Payments would be non-refundable unless extra-ordinary circumstances existed and/or cancellation of event due to inadequate ticket sales. Refunds would be less any unrefundable venue contract charges.
 
For your additional information, the Hilton has just completed a full renovation, including all of its hotel rooms. Our reduced lodging costs will be at a group rate of $129 per night [reg price $159]. No other discount allowances are eligible for use with the reduced group rate, unless classmates are Hilton Honours members. There will be a block of rooms held under our event name once we get confirmation of a positive survey return. Although classmates are free to compare/select hotels of their own choice, we believe you will find the Hilton's quality, its many amenities and group pricing far superior to most.

Based on the overall input or final consensus of the surveys, the Planning Committee will either move forward with the Grand Gala Plan or to the contrary by redirecting its focus to a more scaled-back event.
