We want to hear from you!

Traceability is highly desired in apparel sector supply chains. Businesses and civil society recognize that one of the main challenges to advancing social and environmental practices is the lack of visibility across today’s global supply chains. C&A Foundation partnered with BSR and the UN Global Compact on a project to identify and assess opportunities to drive greater traceability and visibility across apparel sector supply chains. The project included a landscape mapping of initiatives, soliciting the views from leading global brands and their supply chain partners, and an assessment of more than 30 IT solutions providers.

The project identified four potential project opportunities, and we'd like to hear from you which seem interesting, what you'd like to know more about, and if you have any views on other project ideas.

Question Title

* 1. Project Opportunity 1: Cotton Traceability There is a lot of work being done to advance the traceability of cotton, arguably the most important natural raw material for the industry, rife with sustainability challenges. C&A Foundation would like to explore further scaling the traceability efforts related to cotton, for example, 1) scaling the Better Cotton Initiative traceability program, and/ or 2) providing a traceability tool to the Organic Cotton Accelerator.

Question Title

* 2. Project Opportunity 2: Viscose Traceability: The C&A Foundation believes there is a strong opportunity to create a traceability prototype for tracing viscose fabric to raw materials to tackle deforestation and achieve various business benefits.

Question Title

* 3. Project Opportunity 3: Garment Production Subcontracting: There are numerous existing sustainability initiatives looking to address labor rights issues linked to garment production and particularly subcontracting. This opportunity would involve bringing the traceability solution to this challenge, enabling visibility of the chain of subcontractors in the supply chain in specific geographies.

Question Title

* 4. Project Opportunity 4: Homeworkers: This project would be an effort to map the global supply chain for decentralized homeworking production. This kind of a mapping exercise would be extremely valuable to the market to enable greater visibility and understanding of a vulnerable workforce.

Question Title

* 5. If you have other ideas for potential projects regarding supply chain traceability in the apparel sector that could be of interest to companies in the sector, that C&A Foundation might want to consider, please include a few words on this idea below.

Question Title

* 6. If you would like to be contacted by C&A Foundation to follow up on your responses, or to get further involved in the projects, please include your email address below.
