Dear NYC Educator

The National Wildlife Federation is partnering with McCaulay Honors College - host of the City Nature Challenge - to get students outside to learn about the nature that is all around them! The Challenge, which will take place on April 26-29, 2019, engages people in finding and documenting plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. Cities compete against each other to see who can make the most nature observations; and this year, we're challenging NYC Eco-Schools to get outside en masse and compete to win!
To that end, we're offering a FREE TRAINING, led by Kelly O'Donnell of Mccaulay Honors College, to prepare teachers for the Challenge!

The training will be held:
Wednesday, October 10, 2018
4:00pm to 5:30pm
McCaulay Honors College
35 West 67th Street
New York, NY 10023

What will be covered in the training?
  • Overview of the Challenge and how to sign your school up;
  • How to identify trees, plants and animals;
  • How to use iNaturalist and enter your observations on the platform;
  • How to set up projects/decide what to observe and establish project boundaries;
  • Overview of educational resources that can be used with the CNC;
  • Dates for Eco-Flora "practice runs" for teachers with the NY Botanical Garden.
Please complete the short survey below by Friday, October 5, 2018.
(Please answer each survey question completely. If you have problems with registration, please contact fanoe@nwf.org
