Congress and the President were embroiled in some intense negotiations about the federal budget and debt before a last-minute deal was struck. From all indications, these complex discussions will continue later this year when the 2012 budget is considered.

* 1. Massive cuts in our federal government infrastructure are needed to balance economic recovery spending and the tax cuts of late 2010 EVEN IF these reductions may slow or stop our economic recovery, and unemployment will increase in the short-term.
