Guilt and obsessive compulsive symptoms: The mediating role of self-disgust and not just right experiences

What is the research project about?
This research is being conducted by Patrick McHugh, a Psychologist in Clinical Training in NUI Galway. The research will examine the role of guilt, not just right experiences and self-disgust in obsessive compulsive symptoms.  

What participation involves?
Upon providing your consent to participate and clicking "Next" at the bottom of this page, you will be re-directed to the survey. This survey will ask you to complete a number of questionnaires related to your experience of obsessive compulsive symptoms and your emotions. Please note that you may withdraw from the study at any point during participation.

How long will participation take?
Approximately 15 minutes 

Who is eligible to participate?
Adults 18 years or above who are experiencing difficulties with obsessive thoughts or behaviours. 

Are there benefits in taking part?
Participants who complete the questionnaire will be eligible to enter a draw to win a voucher worth €100.  Furthermore, you can request access to a summary of the results when the study is completed.

Will my responses by anonymous?
Yes, you will not have to provide identifiable information and any data collected will kept confidential.  Data will be collected, analysed and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act.  

Are there any potential risk to participation?
In completing the mental health questionnaires, it is possible you may experience some distress.  Should this occur, you may contact support services if required, such as your GP or the following helplines as recommended by the HSE:
