1. Introduction

The National Autistic Society, Central & Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust and Cheshire East Local Authority are carrying out some research into the experiences of adults with autism in the Cheshire East and Vale Royal area.

With the passing of the Autism Act 2009 and the publication of the Adult Autism Strategy, adults with autism are a national priority, and we want to find out what needs to happen to implement the strategy locally.

We are asking adults with autism, aged 18 and over, and their parents/carers to complete this questionnaire about their experiences of accessing services locally.

It's really important that we hear from as many adults affected by autism as possible. The findings of this survey will be used to inform our work to improve support locally. And it's only with your help that we can get it right

The survey appears quite long, but most of the questions are multiple choice and it should take no longer than about 15 - 20 minutes to complete.

Don’t worry if you can’t answer all the questions or sections of the survey. If you can’t answer, or would prefer not to answer, any of the questions or sections just continue to the next one. Your answers are anonymous, and names and other identifying information will not be linked to quotes or other data provided. However if you are happy for us to contact you again, please enter your contact details in the form at the end of this survey.

The deadline for responding to this survey is Monday 16th January 2012.
