Volunteer Application Form

Thank you for your interest in CWA Vancouver.  All volunteers must be fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination and Criminal Record checks which are shared with our Partners (care homes etc.)

Our Volunteer opportunities range from being a Pilot who rides the trishaw style bikes, maintaining the trishaws, promotions, grant writing, photography, and videographer.

Our volunteer program focuses on riding seniors for recreational rides in and around the Vancouver West End, Westside, Yaletown, Chinatown, False Creek areas. Our primary ride times are between 9 am - 4 pm primarily Monday to Saturday based on the schedules of the long-term care homes we work with.

If you are interested in being a Pilot (bike rider) we require you to be over 5’6” in height (to see over the canopy when it is up) and can lift and maneuver the trishaw safely. The nature of our program is to ride slowly (8-10 km/hr) with the focus given on safety and passengers enjoyment. The average weight of two passengers in the seat (300+ pounds) means the pilot needs the strength to get the trishaw rolling and manage hills and inclines. Our trishaws have pedal-assist battery power which can be different from e-assist power. The maximum capacity of weight is 500 pounds trishaw, pilot and riders. We will give preference to Pilot volunteers who can commit a minimum of one day a week for a 3 hour shift during weekdays and weekends.

It is part of the ride to create conversations and share what you are experiencing on the ride. Cycling experience, knowledge of Vancouver bike lanes, and cycling safety is required AND we prefer those with an interest in working with the elderly. Our passenger's average age is 75-100 years old, many use walkers and, many have dementia.

We are looking for a group of committed volunteers to build relationships with our long-term care partners, their residents, and their families.
