SPN Awards

The Nurse Safety Spotlight Award seeks to showcase pediatric nurses that demonstrate commitment to pediatric patient safety through professional activities, and/or interactions with patients and their families within their organization.

Criteria
• Nominee must be a practicing bedside/clinical nurse
• Nominee must have no corrective actions in the past year
• Nominee must be an SPN member in good standing
• Self-nominations will be accepted

Deadline
This award will be given on a quarterly basis. The deadline to submit nominations for the first award cycle is Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

* 3. Please provide a statement (500-1000 words) describing activities that the candidate has undertaken that show their dedication to patient safety. Try to address all applicable patient safety domains (listed below).

  • Leadership - Recent or current activities that show the applicant’s leadership in implementing bedside patient safety practices.
  • Mentoring – Recent or current activities that demonstrate the applicant advancing patient safety through mentorship. Examples could be participation in a preceptorship, mentoring program, etc. where the applicant passed on patient safety knowledge to mentees.
  • Training – Recent or current activities that demonstrate the applicant implementing patient safety practices through training other nurses.
  • Innovation – Recent or current activities that demonstrate the applicant advancing, implementing, or creating innovative approaches to patient safety.
