So you've been given a new course to teach: now what? (Tuesday 30 October 2012)
In this workshop, participants will learn about a wide variety of ways for designing teaching and learning experiences beyond the traditional lecture model. Whether the course is an engineering, science, humanities, or social science course, faculty will gain in depth, useful information on methods such as flipped classrooms, in-class discussions and debates, the use of audience response systems ('clickers'), etc, as well as when it would be best to use them to highlight key learning goals. Participants will then be given the opportunity to apply some of these alternative teaching and learning methods to courses that they have taught, or plan to teach.
