What is Health Equity?
Health equity is defined as "the state in which everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of health". At a municipal level, this can mean:

  • Increasing physical activity with improving bike/pedestrian connections
  • Encouraging housing structures to have front porches to increase solar connections and help reduce crime
  • Increasing access to committee meetings through remote options, offering childcare, or ensuring ADA accessibility.
At the regional level, we are working on creating tools to help municipalities integrate health equity concepts into local plans.
