Are you a journalist who works in a hybrid environment, either in a newsroom or as a freelance?

Headlines Network, a network for those who care about improving mental health in the media, is investigating the impact of distributed/remote working on individual journalists and the wider industry at large.

Please take time to answer the following questions for a guide we are writing that supports journalists in hybrid working environments. We value your time and responses.
1.Are you a member of staff at a news organisation, a freelancer or something else? Please also state, if applicable, how many days you work in an office/newsroom.
2.Would you describe your journalism working environment as remote, hybrid, largely office-based or something else?
3.How has hybrid working impacted you?
4.Has hybrid working improved collaboration in your journalism? Has it deepened connections with colleagues and improved work culture? Please state its benefits if so.
5.Do you feel the opportunity to do hybrid working has improved your mental wellbeing?
6.What digital tools do you use in hybrid working settings? Do these platforms allow you to feel connected in work and in non-work conversations, such as on off-topic channels?
7.Have you succumbed to so-called Zoom fatigue? When wfh, do you now communicate differently than at the start of the pandemic? Have you switched to audio-only calls for example?
8.If you are an early career journalist, do you find that hybrid work settings has adversely impacted your mental health (e.g. - working more in the office than senior colleagues, impact on career development, reduced interaction with fellow workers)? Please explain in the comment box.
