We need your help!

We need coordinators and volunteers to help out with our BAD activities this year.   The plan is to offer more social activities outside of work hours so that we can get together for fun and socialization.  We also want to attract new members of all ages and provide them with an opportunity to meet like-minded people.  It's really important that we Democrats are visible in our community so please consider signing up to help!

Question Title

* 1. BAD will participate in Market Days this year on April 9-10, May 14-15, September 10-11, and October 8-9.  We need a Coordinator to oversee the booth set-up/tear-down and volunteer recruitment.  This involves arriving for set-up on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. and returning on Sundays at 3:00 p.m. to begin the tear-down process.  Volunteer recruitment will be done online. However, the Market Days Coordinator will be responsible for making sure that there are an adequate number of volunteers for each shift.

Question Title

* 2. We need several volunteers to cover the 3 hour shifts on both days at each Market Days weekend.  This involves greeting passers-by, selling merchandise, and in general just having a good time while being visible as Democrats in Boerne.  Volunteers will be able to choose their own days/shifts online for each of the four weekends.

Question Title

* 3. Bill Lester and Janice Bloodworth have volunteered to coordinate the BAD Book Club.  This group will meet once a month at 5:30 p.m. on the Wednesday after our regular BAD meeting.  Books will be chosen via member suggestions.  Ideally, whoever suggests a particular book will also serve as the Discussion Moderator that one month.

Question Title

* 4. Stacey Gilfillan, past president, has volunteered to coordinate the Saturday Night Supper Club.  This group will meet once a month at a designated local restaurant (first meeting: Feb. 26 at La Gloria on I-10).  Each participant will be asked to 1) wear a blue Democratic-theme shirt and 2) bring an extra $10 cash to leave as a tip after the meal (pay for meal on your own).  This activity is a way for members, old and new, to get together and will provide a nice bonus tip to the server.

* 5. This year, BAD will partner with the Kendall County Democratic Party to participate in three local parades: Comfort Independence Day Parade on July 2, Kendall County Fair Association Parade on September 3, and the Weihnachts Parade on December 3.  We need a Parade Coordinator to work with the KCDP Coordinator.  This position will be responsible for assisting wtih the float and recruiting participants to walk/ride in the parades.
