* 12. The federal government owns more land in New Mexico than it does in many other states. If federal land is returned to New Mexico control there would be added costs to manage it, and there would be potential for increasing revenue to the state from use of the land. Where do you believe control of New Mexico’s public lands should reside?

Article V of the U.S. Constitution provides that the states may call a convention for the purpose of amending the Constitution in order to restrict the power and jurisdiction of the federal government. Do you think New Mexico should exercise our U.S. Constitutional rights outlined in Article V, along with other states, to limit the role of the federal government?

New Mexico currently has a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) that requires regulated electric utility companies operating in NM to generate at least 20 percent of their electricity from renewable sources (wind, solar, biomass, …etc) by 2020. Some public officials want to increase the RPS mandate for renewable electricity generation to as much as 100 percent without consideration to backup generation when those sources aren’t producing.
