Prehospital Stress Research Study B Informed ConsentI am asking you to participate in a research study titled “Prehospital Stress Research Study”. I will describe this study to you and answer any of your questions. This study is being produced in conjunction with Pasadena City College.What the study is aboutThe purpose of this research study is to examine various aspects of stress in prehospital providers, including both paramedic students and working paramedics. You are being asked to be in this study because you are a paramedic student that is currently in didactic, clinicals, or internship or you are currently working as a field paramedic. You will be asked to complete a five to ten-minute survey surrounding stress and your service in EMS that includes multiple-choice and free-response questions. Risks and discomfortsThere are minimal risks associated with partaking in this study. Recounting your life experience and experience in EMS may result in emotional stress.MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCESBenefits By participating in this study, you will assist in providing information related to the stress of paramedic students and working paramedics. The results of this study may be used by EMS organizations to better understand and implement measures to reduce stress. You are not expected to receive any direct benefit from participating in this research study.Privacy/Confidentiality/Data Security/Data SharingReasonable steps will be taken to protect your privacy and the confidentiality of the study data. This consent form and survey data may exist on backups and server logs beyond the timeframe of this research project. Names of individuals and institutions will not be placed on any forms used within the study. De-identified data from this study may be shared with the research community at large to advance science and health. All study data will be anonymized and reported in the aggregate. We will remove or code any personal information that could identify you before files are shared with other researchers to ensure that, by current scientific standards and known methods, no one will be able to identify you from the information we share.Please note that the survey is being conducted with the help of Survey Monkey, a company not affiliated with Pasadena City College, and with its own privacy and security policies that you can find on its website.
