Identifying ways to connect with and support current Black students academically, professionally and culturally.

Serving as a mentor and role model to current students with matching field interests.

Becoming a potential future host to provide housing for students who take part in OBSA’s annual Black Alternabreak. Black Alternabreak is a week-long community engagement trip during Spring Break. Students commit their break to volunteering with organizations in the larger community, addressing social issues such as environmental justice, homelessness, and hunger. Coordinators lead three trips each spring, in San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles.

Building a network of local California area Black alumni of The Claremont Colleges that will participate in various programming including networking events and workshops, Black History Month and Martin Luther King Commemoration programming, speaking engagements for Black Graduation, and Women’s History Month.
