Please provide a written summary of active peer transition team efforts and include evidence to support the teams' engagements with peers and the school community.  This response should be robust as peer transition support has been proven to have a significant impact on the ease of transition for incoming students. Reviewers realize that the degree of peer support will likely vary depending on the developmental level and age of the students involved. However, please showcase how your students support one another.

* 7. Please provide written narrative and supporting evidence of school wide professional development (PD) on supporting military connected students and their families. This PD should have included an overview of the provisions Interstate Compact, Virginia Codes supporting military families and the unique needs of these students. The evidence should include the date this training occurred. The PD must have been delivered between October 2021 and September 2024 and completed by 70 percent of the school staff. PD can include both virtual, webinar and in person instruction. It may also include staff completion of VDOE Modules 1 and 2 from Risk to Resilience. Division wide staff development on this this topic is also acceptable. Submitter must include a letter from school administrator testifying that 70 percent of school staff completed training or submit sign in sheets.

Provide a written narrative and supporting evidence that demonstrates how your school addresses the additional transitional needs of military connected students who receive special education services. This must include descriptions and artifacts supporting each of the following or the application will be considered incomplete:

1. What process and procedure is in place to connect students with IEP's to caring and understanding peers who are uniquely equipped (trained) to link them to peer of like interests.

2. How and when families receive a listing of key points of contacts at the division and school level.

3. How division informs incoming family of school level supports such has (Military EFMP's, State and local SEAC).

4. Explain how the school has educated incoming parents on the Virginia parental consent provision and other procedural safeguards.

A. Division wide professional development regarding special considerations for military students and families. Evidence of this training should include a letter from division level administrator that includes the date of training between October 2021 and September 20, 2024, number or list of schools participating and statement confirming that at least 70% of division school level personnel participated.

B. The school board passes a resolution publicizing the school’s support for military students and families. Please submit a copy of this resolution.
