Thank you for your interest in joining NISO as a Voting Member — please see our website for  a full list of benefits, as well as information about membership rates.

Please use this form to provide us with the information we need to process your application and, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact nisohq@niso.org.

As the NISO membership year runs from January through December, each year you will receive a bill in October with payment due on or before the following January 1. New memberships that begin after July 31 will be pro-rated for the remainder of that calendar year plus the whole of the following year.

Voting Members are eligible to participate in all NISO leadership and procedural votes, including ballots for proposed new projects, standards voting pool ballots, and approval of final standards for which a member has joined the voting pool.

Voting Members based in the United States also participate as members of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to the ISO Technical Committee on Information and Documentation (ISO TC46) — NISO’s counterpart at the international level — and its four subcommittees, including voting and commenting on draft international standards from these committees — as well as ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34 Document description and processing languages.

Free attendance at our monthly webinars for anyone from your organization is a NISO member benefit. The Webinar Contact is the person at your institution who receives, promotes, and coordinates participation in NISO webinars.  They will receive routine communications regarding upcoming educational programming, sign-on instructions for webinar access, and archival recordings of all webinar programs.

Primary voting representative, secondary voting representative, and webinar contacts will automatically receive communications about NISO activities, including the monthly NISO Information Organized newsletter (I/O). They may opt out of these communications, other than those that are directly related to your membership, such as webinar and billing information.

You are also welcome to provide the names and email addresses of other colleagues not already listed who should receive our newsletter.
