Examine the strengths and limitations of current anesthesia incident reporting systems, including challenges with underreporting, variable data quality, and limited feedback mechanisms.
Evaluate emerging models of automated and electronic health record–integrated surveillance, and their potential to enhance consistency, reduce bias, and improve detection of adverse events.
Identify future directions for anesthesia safety learning systems and differentiate between high-resource, high-rigour reporting models.
