Introduction

This is an application to join the NextGen Coders Network (NGCN), a Stevens Initiative program implemented by World Learning. The Stevens Initiative is managed by the Aspen Institute and supported by the the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State in addition to several governments, foundations, and companies.

NGCN is a virtual exchange program bringing together over 700 participants from the United States, Iraq and Palestine.

It is structured as a 8-week Hackathon (from July 12 to September 5) in which teams will create solutions to their countries' grand challenges through code. Challenges teams work towards can be on the environment, healthcare, civic engagement, and other critical fields. The teams will be transnational and multidisciplinary, with each member bringing unique perspectives and expertise.

The NGCN Hackathon includes introduction to coding languages, instruction on cross-cultural collaboration, and a facilitated project design period. The course is designed by IUPUI and World Learning.

Please fill in the next sections fully and accurately. This application will close on July 5. Our priority application deadline is June 13, 2021.
