Garden Agreement

Welcome to Jane Street Community Garden!
We are so glad that you are interested in joining us.
However, before you start, it is important that you understand the garden's rules.
1.One of the most beautiful aspects of this little community garden is how it brings together such a wide range of people. Therefore, it is incredibly important that everyone feels welcome, safe and respected.
2.At Jane Street Community Garden, we prioritise organic growing practices, and the use of synthetic or harsh chemicals is prohibited. As part of this, we aim to create an ecosystem where all living things can thrive (not just humans). Therefore, we respect all creatures, and any harm to any animals or plants is strongly prohibited.
3.Due to the soil conditions on this site, we do not recommend that any plants grown in the open garden beds be used for human consumption. You are also not permitted to offer plants grown in the open garden beds to others for human consumption.

Plants grown in raised garden beds, pots or anything that is separated from the ground soil are safe to consume.
4.Due to the soil conditions on this site, we aim to minimise soil disturbance in the open garden beds as much as possible. This is most important when removing plants/roots and planting. This means no unnecessary digging, and when planting, plant into new soil brought in from off-site.
5.You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of any children you have brought with you to the garden. Safety equipment, such as gloves, is provided. It is recommended that enclosed shoes be worn, as the site is open to the public at all times and there is always a risk of sharp or unsafe objects being left on the ground.

As a part of this, it is important to understand your own limitations and the limitations of any children you have brought with you to the garden. You are always allowed to decline any jobs assigned to you during the garden sessions.
6.Please enter your full name, so we have a record that you have read and understood the garden rules.
