The Northumberland Eats Grow Strategy is a local food initiative designed to strengthen our regional food system by connecting local farmers with community food programs. Through this strategy, we can purchase fresh proteins and produce directly from Northumberland-area farmers and distribute them to local food banks and other food security initiatives.
This program supports farm-to-table efforts, promotes access to nutritious, locally grown food, and helps sustain our agricultural community by creating reliable, community-based markets for their products.
To ensure equitable distribution across the region, there is a maximum of $1600.00 available per municipality through this program. Applicants are encouraged to outline how their proposed initiative will support both local producers and food access within their community.
By applying to this program, you are contributing to a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food system—one that nourishes our neighbours and supports our local economy.
