Your facility has been assigned to the 2020 Reducing BSI QIA

This QIA is designed to decrease the rate of dialysis patient events, specifically blood stream infections. We will accomplish this years CMS goal through implementation of the CDC Core Interventions for Dialysis BSI Prevention, sharing best practices for infection control, early identification of BSIs, sepsis education and awareness, improved communication with local healthcare providers, and directing interventions toward patients to allow them the ability to impact their own care.

This quality improvement activity is a CMS initiative; therefore, your active participation is mandatory. We hope that you find this project to be a useful addition to your ongoing quality improvement measures and we appreciate your efforts toward making the project successful.

This QIA will involve several components, including but not limited to decreasing bloodstream infections, improving staff and patient education, and improving communication efforts with non-ESRD healthcare providers for purposes of NHSN compliance and enhanced transition of care for patients.
