Community Vision, Goals, and Focus Areas for the NE Loop 410 and I-35 Regional Center

The City of San Antonio's Planning Department is gathering community input to improve the vision, goals, and focus areas for the NE Loop 410 and I-35 Regional Center Plan ("Plan") . Por favor, haga clic aquí para tomar el cuestionario en español.
 

The Plan will guide development and City decisions and investments over the next 10 years.  The content of the Plan will address the following topics:
-       Economic Development
-       Housing
-       Infrastructure and Public Space
-       Land Use and Development
-       Neighborhood Priorities
-       Parks and Trails
-       Transformative Projects
-       Transportation

The draft NE Loop 410 and I-35 Regional Center Vision and Goals were created using community input through our first questionnaire and a community meeting. Please review the draft Vision and Goals below.

Vision
The NE Loop 410 and I-35 Regional Center is a place where residents and visitors enjoy a range of well-connected mobility options that allow efficient access to everything the Regional Center and surrounding area has to offer – from entertainment, to parks and hike/bike trails, to businesses that meet day-to-day needs. The area supports its traditional industrial base while embracing change to create a more vibrant, diversified mix of uses that are attractive to residents and community-serving businesses.

Focus Areas
Focus areas are, or will be, special community places that should receive extra attention or public investment to achieve community goals. Focus areas were initially identified using community input and areas of vacant land. Focus Area #1: Perrin Beitel south of Thousand Oaks
This area focuses on Perrin Beitel between NE Loop 410 and Thousand Oaks. It is a commercial corridor that was largely developed in the 1980s and contains several smaller strip centers.

This is a commercial area bounded by Perrin Beitel, Walzem Rd., Austin Hwy., and NE Loop 410. North of the Austin Hwy. is the Rialto movie theater. South of the Austin Hwy., there are several large vacant warehouses and parking lots.

Focus Area #3: Randolph Rd.

This area contains the section of Randolph Rd. between Crestway and S. Weidner. A VIA Park and Ride facility is located to the south of the focus area. Several neighborhoods surround Randolph Rd., with smaller vacant and industrial parcels abutting the road.
