The NDSC Convention provides a wonderful opportunity for parents, young adults with Down syndrome, siblings, educators and professionals to benefit from educational sessions, social support and the latest medical/research news. Convention attendees also foster new and lasting friendships which have the potential to improve the quality of life by improving a family’s understanding of Down syndrome and decreasing strain on the family.
The Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City has limited scholarship funds to award to DSG member(s) to attend the NDSC Convention. The scholarship amount will be $500 per individual/family. This scholarship gift is intended to help an attendee cover some conference expenses such as registration, airfare, transportation, meals and incidentals. Scholarship recipients are responsible for making their own hotel and airline reservations and conference registrations. Scholarship funds are awarded to a family when they return from the convention.
Following the convention, you will be asked to submit a report to The Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City, describing your family’s experiences at the event. Your report may be in oral or written format, it should reflect which sessions your family attended and what you gained through your attendance. Report suggestions: newsletter article, speak at a parents discussion group, make a presentation to the Board of Directors, written report for Board members.
Scholarships to the NDSC Convention will be awarded on the basis of the applicants desire to learn more about Down syndrome and their willingness to actively support the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City.
