After an extensive search for possible locations for Alternatives 2019, NCMHR has chosen to return to The Catholic University of America (CUA) for the following reasons:

CUA’s location in Washington, DC, allows us to repeat the “Hill Day” pre-conference advocacy training and action.

CUA is an affordable venue that allows reasonable registration fees.

CUA has a large space for plenary sessions and has suitable workshop rooms, most of which have built-in computers and projectors.

CUA offers affordable meal plans to fit various dietary needs, and there are a variety of restaurants and shops within walking distance.

CUA is on a Metro stop and is ADA-accessible.

We now know the CUA campus and are better prepared to prevent or address any problem that may come up.

There will be several improvements this year: We will be in newer dorms, that are all equipped with elevators and snack machines. We will provide transportation to and from the dorms for those who need it. The Metro stop is open, and signage directs people to the Pryz Center. There are accessible, all-gender/family bathrooms in the conference space. We will conduct a multicultural/disability awareness training for CUA staff in advance. We will have a clear plan for reporting/responding to problems. If you prefer to stay off campus, there are many nearby hotels listed on the website.

If you attended the conference last year and would like to give feedback, we’d like to hear from you:
