1. Introduction

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is being introduced progressively across all states and territories in Australia. The NDIS is rolling out across Western Australia and is expected to be fully rolled out by June 2020. The scheme will provide supports to over 425,000 people across Australia.

The NDIS is an insurance scheme, not a welfare system. It provides support to eligible people with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial disability. Early intervention supports can be provided for eligible children with developmental delay. The NDIS is designed to help people to get the support they need.

This survey is for individuals, families and carers who are eligible to access the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).This survey is to gather the experiences of individuals, families and carers as the scheme rolls out in WA.

There are 21 questions in the survey. The information gathered will be used to provide recommendations to State Minister for Disability Services to raise at the Council of Australian Governments (COAG). It will also be used to provide submissions to the Joint Parliamentary Standing Committee for the NDIS and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to address systemic and policy issues.

This survey is completely anonymous so please share your thoughts freely.
