Newton Community Education Scholarship Application

Dear Applicant,


We’re so glad you’re considering Newton Community Education (NCE) for Summer 2022! We want you to be able to participate in our exciting programs, no matter who you are. We do our best to provide scholarships to as many students as possible. If you are a Newton Public Schools student or a Newton resident needing financial assistance, we welcome you to apply for a scholarship. 


Before you apply, please:

Have your verification of income documents handy since you will need them to complete the application. Your income verification documents can be all pages of your most recent signed and submitted 1040 tax returns, or a copy of your TANF card. If you have neither of these documents, please email us at scholarships@newtoncommunityed.org and we will figure something out.


To apply, please: 

  • Submit the application below by May 15
  • Accurately complete all fields of the application
  • Upload your income verification documents in Question 32.
  • If you cannot make the deadline or if you have questions about income verification documents,  please email us at scholarships@newtoncommunityed.org. This email address  is confidential and will ensure only the scholarship committee sees your information. 
In order for us to successfully process your request, we ask that you accurately complete all fields of the application, including providing your income verification. All applications are confidential


When we receive your application, we will carefully review your situation, our current availability of funds, and the number of applications we’ve received. In order to determine need, we use the Community Income Guidelines below,* as well as specifics about your particular circumstances.


Once you have completed your application, we will reach back out to you with detailed information about next steps. We are here to help in any way we can. .

* 33. In order for your application to be complete, your proof of income must ARRIVE to NCE no later than 2 weeks before the start of your class. Proof of income should be a copy of your most recent 1040 federal tax return or AFDC card. If you do not have one of these items, please email scholarships@newtoncommunityed.org and we will work with you to establish an appropriate proof. You can submit your proof of income by EITHER:

1) Emailing pictures of your most recent 1040 tax return or AFDC card to scholarships@newtoncommunityed.org no later than two weeks before the start of your class (preferred). Please black out your social security number before sending us your documentation.

OR

2) Mailing your hardcopy proof of income to the Newton Community Education office at the address below. Please note that documentation must arrive 2 weeks prior to the start of your class.
