Thank you for your interest in applying for the Lubbock NAACP Youth Scholarship Award. Eligible individuals include seniors graduating in Lubbock County who exemplify leadership, academic promise, and community service.

Essay Requirement (#14): Write a 300-500 word essay discussing the importance of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) in advancing racial justice and equality. Reflect on how the organization's history, mission, and work impact both your community and society as a whole. Include your thoughts on the role of young people in continuing the NAACP's efforts toward positive social change. For more information about the NAACP, go to: https://naacp.org/. Please note that using an AI-generated response for your essay will render your application ineligible for review.

Letter of Recommendation (#15): The letter must include the signature of the teacher or counselor, your name, GPA and class ranking. Please do not upload your transcript.

If you need assistance completing the scholarship application, there will be two workshops available:
  • March 7, 2026 - East Lubbock Art House, 405 MLK Jr. Blvd., Suite B, Lubbock, TX, 10 am - 12 pm.
  • April 4, 2026 - LIFE Inc., 8240 Boston Ave., Lubbock, TX, 10 am - 12 pm.

All applications must be submitted by May 1, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.

The winners will be recognized during the Lubbock NAACP Annual Scholarship Dinner on August 1, 2026. All winners must be present at the Annual Dinner to receive their awards.
