The term “customer acquisition” refers to all direct and indirect activities used to identify, qualify, engage, and ultimately close a sale with a customer. Customer acquisition costs include all costs incurred to generate (or purchase) leads, as well as sales commission and all other overhead sales and marketing costs contributing to closing a sale. This overhead includes salaries and materials used by sales and marketing teams.
