Water Awareness Month 2023

Pledge to conserve water and take steps to use less of it

Your drinking water comes from Upper Lake Mary, springs in the Inner Basin of the San Francisco Peaks, and groundwater, which is pumped from the Lake Mary and Woody Mountain well fields, the Inner Basin wells, and local "in-city" wells.

In the arid southwest, water conservation is of utmost importance. Potable water is a finite resource in the desert and the high desert of the Colorado Plateau. Northern Arizona has an arid climate with limited water resources. The depletion of groundwater is an especially critical issue. Of all the resources we use, water is one we truly cannot live without. Therefore, we encourage County employees to incorporate water saving measures as much as possible.

In fact nationwide, we not only celebrate Earth Day in April but it's also Water Awareness Month. Arizona Water Use It Wisely has 100+ Water Saving Tips. In addition to signing this pledge, we also encourage you to sign the Wyland National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation
