Because there is no vaccine for COVID-19, preventative measures like the ones being implemented worldwide, are the most effective way to contain infections. It is difficult to predict when—not if—COVID-19 will reoccur in Santa Barbara County after the first epidemic wave. To do this, county officials will be using local data, as well as information from neighboring regions, especially those with higher population density and those from which Santa Barbara County tends to draw more visitors and college students.
