Justin Trudeau's public safety minister Marco Mendicino has been a catastrophic failure.
While his job is to keep Canadians safe, he has proven incapable of keeping Canadians safe from threats both domestic and foreign.
Violent crime continues to rise in Canada, yet Marco Mendicino refuses to go after violent criminals and illegal smugglers. Instead, he's going to waste hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to take hunting and sporting rifles away from law-abiding Canadians who've never commited a crime in their lives.
Under his watch, China has been allowed to set up and maintain police stations across the country to harass Canadian citizens, especially immigrants from China who came here expecting to be free from the dictatorship in Beijing. The Communist Party has been allowed to infiltrate all aspects of Canadian democracy, giving bags of cash to Canada's most influential figures in order to influence our policy, government and elections.
We now know that the family of a Conservative MP was even targeted by the Chinese government, and yet Mendicino did not do his job of keeping Canadians safe. Instead, he has let the agents responsible for this intimidation campaign remain in Canada for years and refuses to answer questions as to what he knew and when.
Enough is enough. Marco Mendicino has chosen to abdicate his duty to keep Canadians safe.
It's time for Marco Mendicino to resign and be replaced by a public safety minister who is actually interested in protecting Canadians.
