UK Jamaican Diaspora Contribution Survey
Introduction and context
The UK Jamaican diaspora has long played a vital, though often under-recognised, role in supporting Jamaica during times of crisis and contributing to long-term national development. UK-based individuals, churches, community organisations, businesses, and professional networks have consistently mobilised to provide humanitarian assistance, expertise, and financial support — particularly following events such as Hurricane Melissa and other natural disasters affecting Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
This initiative is being undertaken with the support of Patrick Vernon, UK South Representative, Marcus Humphrey, UK North Representative, Abigail Brady Rhoden, UK South Youth Council Representative, Reccarnei Phillipson, UK North Youth Council Representative and Nathaniel Peat, former GJDC South Representative and Co-Founder Jamaicans Inspired, as part of a collaborative effort to strengthen diaspora engagement, evidence gathering, and partnership across the UK.
We are inviting individuals, organisations, churches, charities, businesses, and professional networks to register their interest in participating by completing this online survey. Your participation will help ensure that the diaspora’s contribution is properly recognised, strengthened, and aligned with Jamaica’s future development priorities.
All responses will be aggregated and anonymized with an estimated completion time of between 10-15mins, with a deadline for completion by 17th April 2026
Best regards,
Karl Murray and Patrick Vernon
