Community Governance Review - Rugby Town Council

Public consultation

Rugby Borough Council has launched a Community Governance Review (CGR) to consider the creation of a town council for Rugby.

We have now launched the 'stage one' consultation of the CGR, where we want to hear the views of residents.

Please refer to the CGR's terms of reference before completing the consultation.

Your views can help us prepare the CGR's draft recommendations, which then become subject to the CGR's 'stage two' consultation - set to take place later this year.

1.Do you support the creation of a town council for Rugby?
2.What geographical area do you think a town council should cover?
3.What name would you prefer for a town council? (e.g. Rugby Town Council, Rugby Community Council, etc) Please tell us why.
4.What services or functions do you think a town council should prioritise? (List up to ten services or functions in order of importance)
5.What concerns - if any - do you have about the creation of a town council?
6.How do you think a town council should be structured? (e.g. divided into wards, how many councillors?).
7.Should a new town council have a Mayor?
8.What do you think the relationship between a new town council and Rugby Borough Council should be?
9.Are there any existing community governance arrangements in your area that you feel work well or should be considered?
10.Is there anything else you would like to tell us about how your community should be represented at a local level?
