Albany Little Athletics Club 2024/25 program

Please have your say below

The club trialled a new 3-week rotation for our program over the 2023/24 season. That is, we had three different programs of events (each of which included a long and short race, a jump and a throw), and rotated through them over the course of the season.

All club members are now invited to vote on the structure of the coming season.

To help you arrive at a decision, please find details of each below:

2-week program
  • Saturday morning sessions are generally an hour or so longer (finishing around 11:30am)
  • Athletes do more events every Saturday morning (generally up to 6 events, depending on age group), and will have more opportunities to compete in their favourite events over the season
  • There is no capacity to add Race Walk as an event to this schedule

3-week program

  • Saturday morning sessions are shorter (finishing between 10am and 10.30am)
  • Less physical demand on young athletes and growing bodies
  • Athletes do less events every Saturday morning (generally up to 5 events, depending on age group), with potentially fewer opportunities to compete in their favourite events over the season
  • Risk of wet weather causing ‘rain sensitive events’ like jumps and hurdles to be cancelled, which may reduce opportunities to compete
  • Race Walk can be added to this schedule
Please note that, for older Little Athletes (U14+) who are starting to specialise in certain events, we are continuing to explore opportunities for them to compete as dual athletes with Albany Athletics. This way, they can do their specialist events on more days throughout the season.
For the 2024/25 season, would you prefer a 2-week or a 3-week program?
