The Museum of Texas Tech University marks its 90th anniversary in 2019. To commemorate this milestone, the Museum plans to mount an exhibition that showcases the extraordinary spectrum of holdings in our collections. The Museum has seven collecting areas: art, clothing and textiles, world cultures, history, archaeology, paleontology (fossils), and natural history. The eight million objects makes the Museum one of the most diverse in the country.  We would like your input on how to frame this landmark exhibition. We have proposed two themes. Please take a moment to tell us which you would prefer.
Hub City's Museum Hub

The Hub City's Museum Hub is an exhibition that explores where we were, where we are, and where we might be going.  Each of our collections has its own personality and the stories will lure visitors on a journey through some of the most exciting, perplexing, miraculous, trendsetting, dangerous, amazing, downright jaw dropping—and maybe a little crazy at times—collecting adventures that you might ever imagine. Secrets will be unveiled! People and things go together like macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, or salt and pepper.  See how the Museum has celebrated and explored these crossroads for more than 90 years.

 OR

Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Wicked Collections

Explore the diversity of the Museum of Texas Tech University’s collections in an exhibit designed to inform, tantalize, and amuse – and perhaps be a little bit naughty! Set within a story line about the Seven Deadly Sins - pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony and lust - you will encounter the entire range of art and objects held in the Museum’s seven wicked collections.  Using as a framework Dante’s great work of literature, the Divine Comedy, you will travel through the seven levels of Purgatory, each corresponding to a Deadly Sin - exploring collections as you go, until you reach the gateway to Paradise. Wicked!
