There are many ways for professional/faculty members to get more involved with the MPSA, including serving as a discussant or chair at a session at the conference, or serving on committees.
DISCUSSANTS - JUNIOR SCHOLAR SYMPOSIA (JSS). The presenters are graduate students and they give a short presentation of their research with the assumption that everyone has read their papers. The focus is on the feedback from the discussants, and there is no audience.
PANELISTS - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS. The MPSA organizes a series of Roundtables at the conference that discuss aspects of the academic profession. Each session has 4-6 panelists, one of whom will also be asked to serve as Chair. There are no written papers. With all presenters' permission, some of these sessions will be recorded for future release.
MPSA CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES. You can serve as a Mentor, organize a "Conference with in a Conference, or volunteer to be a section head at the conference in 2021.
MPSA COMMITTEES. The MPSA has a wide range of committees that involve about 150 professional/faculty members. Please volunteer to serve on one; no one will be asked to serve on more than one committee.
