Join us during Hispanic Heritage Month to learn the history of the local migrant workforce behind the booming agricultural industry in NEPA that started in the 1940’s and how this history impacts current employment and immigration realities for the regional Hispanic and Latino community.
About our speaker: Jenny Gonzalez Monge is a Licensed Social Worker who works at Marywood University as the Program Director of S.T.A.R.S (Students Together Achieving Remarkable Success), an after-school program for 1st generation youth. Jenny has been working with and advocating for the civil and immigrants' rights of the growing immigrant and refugee populations in NEPA for over a decade through her work and continued involvement at the Community Justice Project. She also serves as a member of WVIA's Community Advisory Board and WVIA's Education Bilingual Advisory Board and was a member of the Steering Committee of the "Scranton's Story, Our Nations' Story" project.
