Dear all,

the coordinator of the National Grid Infrastructure - CESNET Association and its activity MetaCentrum - prepares in cooperation with the CERIT-SC computing centre a practice-oriented training seminar, focusing on the possibilities and ways of using the provided computing, storage and cloud infrastructure, as well as the possibilities of IT cooperation in scientific research in many fields of science.

The seminar is suitable for both beginners and intermediate users of the national grid infrastructure. During the seminar, user's will actively participate on the topics discussed, including the practical examples which will be solved during the seminar -- the basic (user) knowledge of Linux OS is an advantage.

The seminar will cover the following topics:
  • short introduction of the MetaCentrum NGI and MetaVO
  • short introduction of the CERIT-SC Centre and possibilities of IT collaboration on scientific research projects
  • short introduction of services available via the Large Infrastructure CESNET project
  • national grid architecture
  • jobs' requirements specification, interactive and batch jobs, a preparation of startup scripts, etc.
  • jobs monitoring
  • parallel and distributed applications
  • starting the jobs on the CERIT-SC infrastructure
  • examples of specific applications (Matlab -- parallel and distributed computations, GPU applications, Gaussian + Gaussian Linda, compilation of own applications and external libraries, etc.)
  • discussion
  • etc.

The expected length of the seminar is about 4 hours. The place, where the seminar will take place will be provided (based on the preferences of registered users).

If you want to attend the seminar, please, fill-in the registration form available below.
