DC Collaborative Member Meeting/Round-table Topics Survey

We are sending this brief needs assessment survey to ensure that we are being responsive to member interests in designing workshops and meetings. Please respond regarding the topics and issues in arts and humanities education that you would like to see addressed at DC Collaborative convenings.

Academic Standards, Instruction and Assessments. For example:

Best practices in teaching in and through the arts and humanities;
Best practices in assessing students’ learning in and through the arts and humanities;
Current trends in education reform which arts educators and the cultural community should be aware of (i.e. Arts and the Common Core, The Role for Arts in the Extended School Day/Year etc)

Ensuring Access: Extending Opportunities for Arts and Humanities Education Across the Community. For example:

Strategies for infusing arts education throughout schools and communities;
Information about DCPS and Charter School’s priorities, policies and plans;
Innovative initiatives and practices taken by Members to establish outreach and community partners

Communicating the Importance of Arts and Humanities Education. For example:

Methods for raising awareness of, and support for, arts and humanities education;
Establishing a shared research agenda and developing evidence of impact and research regarding arts and humanities education;
Establishing a shared policy agenda for a more robust and comprehensive provision of arts and humanities education in DC

Strengthening Nonprofit Organizations Working to Advance Arts and Humanities Education. For example:

Approaches to strategic planning and implementation to reach goals;
Approaches to development in alignment with a strategic plan;
Establishing strategic partnerships and developing partnership agreements and MOUs;
Starting and/or sustaining programs and designing program logic models

Support of Nonprofit professionals working in arts and humanities education. For example:

Peer-to-peer and mentoring opportunities so that individuals in the field can learn from one another;
Identifying and meeting professional development goals such as mastering the development of program budgets, managing financial systems, successful meeting facilitation, supporting the professional growth of others etc;
More Informal networking and get-togethers;

Collective Impact discussions that aid us in strengthening our arts and humanities education community of practice. Opportunities for discussion around the five key elements of Collective Impact. Including:

Common Agenda
Shared Measurement
Mutually Reinforcing Activities
Continuous Communication
Backbone Support
