NAME:   Blessed Columba Marmion House, or ‘Marmion House’

LOCATION:   210 5th Ave SE, Saint Cloud MN 56304.

MISSION:   The Marmion House will invite and encourage Catholic men to a daily encounter with Jesus Christ through a life of prayer and intentional Christian living.

VISION:
  • The Marmion House will offer young adult Catholic men the opportunity to grow in their relationship with Christ and in understanding what it means to live a life of holiness.
  • The Marmion House will offer young adult Catholic Men formation in learning about prayer, healthy relationships, and knowledge of their faith.
  • The Marmion House will promote community life through common prayer, regularly scheduled community nights, formation, and fraternity.
  • The Marmion House will require men to engage in the Newman Center parish community, contributing to ministry efforts and evangelization
PATRONS:   Bl. Columba Marmion, Pope St. John Paul II, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John Vianney, and Bl. Teresa of Calcutta.

OBJECTIVES:
  • To establish a Catholic community of young adult men seeking holiness.
  • To provide opportunities for human, pastoral, intellectual, and spiritual formation.
  • To foster relationships among young adults of faith.
  • To be a dynamic witness of Catholicism.
RESIDENTS of the Marmion House will:
  • Be the age of 18 or older; those under 18 years of age are not eligible.
  • Seek a more intentional commitment of one’s life to Jesus and His Church.
  • Reside at the household for up to one year, with extensions possible at the discretion of the Director of the House.
COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY LIVING:
As a resident of The Marmion House, I commit myself to:
  • engaging in daily personal prayer;
  • a monthly reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation;
  • a commitment to praying the Liturgy of the Hours with the men of the house at least 3 times a week;
  • having dinner with the men of the house two nights a week;
  • participating in community prayer and fellowship in both formal and informal ways whenever possible;
  • fostering relationships of Christian brotherhood with other residents and non-residents;
  • providing hospitality to guests and visitors of the Marmion House;
  • receiving regular (every 4-6 weeks) spiritual direction;
  • being a witness of Catholic faith through my daily living and a public person on and off parish property;
  • completing “Safe Environment” training according to the policy set by the Diocese of Saint Cloud and commitment to the Diocesan Code of Ethical Standards;
  • completing a criminal background check;
  • refraining from excessive use of television or internet (for work or study is fine) and maintain appropriate boundaries throughout the house;
  • following civil laws;
  • fulfilling my responsibilities to work and/or school;
  • maintaining responsibility for my share of household cleaning and other tasks, including keeping common areas clean;
  • maintaining responsibility for purchasing my share of food and other needed household supplies, estimated at $100 per month;
  • offering $250 per month for costs related to rent and utilities (after discussion with the Director of the House);
  • participating in a quarterly review with the Director of the House regarding participation in community life and continued residence;
  • Actively participating in the Newman Center Community at Saint Cloud State University contributing to its ministry efforts and evangelization of students on campus.
