Zero Waste Marin JPA has regularly partnered with other coastal counties to offer free collection events for safely disposing of single-use marine flares in Marin County. These temporary events help keep hazardous flares out of the environment and often include information about electronic alternatives.

Event details are shared through local waste agencies and boating groups, and there is not a set schedule due to budget fluctuations. The last collection event was held in November of 2025. To stay informed, follow Make the Electronic Marine Flare Switch on social media.
