The Ad-Hoc Affordable Housing Plan Committee is asking you to complete this survey on the current housing situation and your personal experiences in Town.  While many of you have already received a survey on affordable housing created by the regional planning agency, we are sending you this additional survey specifically crafted by Madison residents.  Our Committee believes that the more our citizenry is engaged, the greater the likelihood we can develop a successful plan to create affordable housing that fits into our community and of which we can all be proud.

Our Committee consists of citizen volunteers, and members of various boards and commissions, including the Board of Selectmen.  Our charge is to develop an Affordable Housing Plan by June 2022, pursuant to the requirements outlined in Connecticut Statute 8-30j.  Each municipality in the State is required to create a plan that specifies how their Town or City intends to increase the affordable housing stock in their individual community.

Your answers are confidential and will be used to craft a report that reflects the needs, desires, and values of our community.  Following the final question of the survey, residents are asked to enter their contact information if you would like to receive updates on the plan and next steps following this survey.  If you would like to give your information separately from your survey so that your answers remain anonymous, please contact Erin Mannix, Town Planner, at 203-245-5633 or mannixe@madisonct.org.

Please look for public forums in the months ahead as we seek to involve our community every step of the way.  You may access our website, filled with useful information, at https://www.madisonct.org/1089/Affordable-Housing-Plan-Advisory-Committ. We thank you for your help with this effort!

2.       Has been deed restricted to ensure that the housing unit will remain Affordable for a period of forty years; or
3.       Consists of ownership units that are currently financed by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) or the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
