Often, health research overlooks the voices of those most affected by health inequalities. The Mabadiliko Academy: Community-powered Health Research training programme, focuses on equipping marginalised and minoritised communities with the knowledge and confidence to engage in and influence health research directly.

Voluntary Sector North West is pleased to be collaborating with Mabadiliko CIC to offer this self-paced online course to our membership. The training course aims to create a collaborative, empowering space for community members and representatives of community-based organisations to learn essential skills to participate in health research.

Registration process

We are offering 40 places on the training programme and invite you to complete the following short expression of interest form if you would like to be enrolled.

Registration will close at midday, 12:00 pm on Monday 24 February, and spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The expected time commitment for the course is 10 hours.

Additionally, we will be offering up to 20 participants the option to attend three 2-hour online enhanced learning workshops – please see below for further information and to indicate whether you would be interested in attending these.

Data protection and GDPR

We are asking you to provide the following personal and demographic information so that we can monitor who is attending and ensure diversity of the group. All information you provide through this registration form will be securely stored on Mabadiliko CIC's password-protected laptops or encrypted backup files. If you change your mind about participating, you can withdraw your consent at any time, without providing any explanation. To aid in selecting and enrolling participants, we will share basic participant data (name/email/organisation) with VSNW, having first removed all protected characteristic data which we will aggregate and anonymise. After your completion of the course, your data will be deleted, unless you have opted in to receive further communications from Mabadiliko CIC and VSNW.

12.We have capacity to offer up to 20 participants the option of attending three 2-hour enhanced learning workshops to apply what you have learned in practice. These workshops will be hosted online (via Zoom) by one of Mabadiliko’s culturally sensitive facilitators and will involve role-playing exercises linked to the core course content.
