It is time once again to submit nominations for the annual prestigious AHIA awards, which, if approved, will be presented at AHIA's 2017 Annual Conference – August 27-30, 2017 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.

We invite YOU to help us honor those volunteers who YOU believe have made outstanding contributions to AHIA. Not sure who to nominate? You may also identify the service area that has been most beneficial to you.

This year, the AHIA Membership and Awards Committee invites you to submit nominations in one or more of the following categories:

AHIA Outstanding Service Award - The AHIA Outstanding Service Award honors any individual for his/her substantial support of AHIA. This award replaces the former AHIA Award. Criteria: Candidates may have served AHIA in only one capacity or one year but their endeavor(s) demonstrated a significant contribution in furthering the mission and/or goals of AHIA. Individuals considered for this award need not be an AHIA member.

AHIA Professional Practices Award - The AHIA Professional Practices Award honors an AHIA member who has promoted or demonstrated excellence in the areas of Clinical Quality, Information Technology and Security, General Audit Management, Compliance, Health Plans and/or Revenue Cycle. Criteria: Candidates considered for this award should be a current AHIA member who has demonstrated expertise in one or more of the above-noted categories, sharing that expertise with fellow members through educational presentations (conference, seminars, webinars, etc.); contributing materials to the Audit Library; writing articles for New Perspectives; and/or actively contributing to e-resources such as the List Serve and Tech Talk.

AHIA Rising Star Award - The criteria for this award has been expanded to include both members new to the auditing profession as well as more experienced members who are new to healthcare internal auditing. The AHIA Rising Star Award honors an AHIA member who is up and coming in the healthcare internal audit field. Criteria: Candidates for this award should be a current AHIA member with 5 years or less healthcare internal auditing experience who embodies the future of the profession through excellence in healthcare internal auditing and active participation in AHIA activities.

The Founders Award - This award is reserved for any AHIA member(s) who have gone above the normal call of duty and served AHIA in some capacity for at least 6 years. Members presented with this award are those who are dedicated to the profession and, at least at the time of their award, believed that they would always be in the internal audit profession. This is the Association's highest and most prestigious award. Criteria: A candidate must have had a role in a strategic initiative of AHIA within the past 4 years and must have served as a member of the AHIA Board, Board Committee, or Subcommittee of the Board for at least 2 years. AHIA Board members are not eligible until 2 years following the end of their term.

The Institutional Award - This award is given to those institutions (Universities, Hospitals, Health Systems, Vendors, professional services firms, etc.) that have demonstrated continuing support of AHIA's goals and objectives in furthering our mission and vision. The support could exist in many forms, such as providing facilities, staff, advice, counsel, operational assistance, or other resources. Criteria: The Institution must have shown active support of AHIA for six or more consecutive years.

It is important to note that these awards may not be given each and every year, but are reserved for those individuals and organizations that have provided timely and/or consistent support by one or more of the various means described above.
